About the Job
Bob is a laid back local who’s made idleness into an art form. In his mid forties and currently unemployed, he spends most of his days drifting between home and the town bar the only two places that don’t expect too much from him. With his rumpled shirt, half tucked, and a grin that never seems to leave his face, Bob is the picture of a man perfectly content doing as little as possible. At the bar, he’s a fixture always sitting in the same spot, nursing a beer, and tossing easy compliments toward Sarah, the bartender. His flirting is harmless, more playful than serious, and everyone knows it’s just Bob being Bob. He’s the kind of guy who talks big about getting back on his feet “real soon,” but somehow the next day looks exactly like the last. Despite his laziness, Bob has a good heart. He listens to people’s troubles, cracks jokes that keep the bar light, and treats everyone like an old friend. Beneath the humor, though, there’s a hint of something else a man who’s long since given up chasing anything more, choosing instead to laugh his way through life one beer at a time.
