About the Job
*SPEAKS AMHARIC - PLEASE NOTE FLUENCY IN SUBMISSION.* Mulu Bekele is a parking valet at a hotel in Hollywood, Los Angeles. He is superb at his job, never late, and popular amongst his co-workers (we do not see him driving in the script). He has an acquired limb difference (amputee of left arm) from an accident while working as an oil rig manager in Ethiopia over a decade ago. He spends a lot of his time at work in order to be able to afford his wife’s monthly admission fee at a psychiatric hospital and his daughter’s medical school tuition. Despite all of this, he is a loving father and husband. He is presented with the opportunity to join a dance therapy class that could help him with his phantom limb pain and his wife’s mental illness symptoms, but must overcome his pride and denial that he needs the same support as his wife.
