Union Background Role — Featured Newsie Ensemble Tough, streetwise, and intimidating, Newsie #3 is part of a ragged crew of mysterious NYC newsies who roam the city searching for vulnerable young souls to lure back to their elusive boss. With a sharp physical presence and a hardened exterior, this character feels like they’ve survived decades on the streets of a strange, heightened version of New York. The role is primarily non-speaking/background performance but heavily featured within the ensemble throughout multiple sequences. Strong character work, expressive reactions, and physical storytelling are important. Dancing, movement, or rhythmic performance ability is a plus, as portions of the sequence involve stylized group movement and choreographed street energy. Seeking performers with strong presence, unique faces, and comfort playing grounded-but-surreal comedic material. The director is specifically looking for a more butch/masculine-presenting female energy for this role.
