About the Job
Male or nonbinary, all ethnicities. Young Blu is sensitive, observant, and emotionally charged beneath a quiet exterior. He is deeply in love with his best friend Matt but too afraid to speak it aloud. Young Blu is on the edge of self discovery but trapped by fear, shame, and the cultural pressures of adolescence. The actor must convey longing, innocence, and repression with specificity and emotional restraint. There is non-sexual physical contact between YOUNG BLU and YOUNG MATT. These include hugging, tickling, light wrestling, and a kiss. The two characters also remove their shirts. The scene will be choreographed and an intimacy coordinator will be present. From the director: "The scene is about the discovery of self and shared affection, not performance of sexuality. The physical contact is minimal."
