About the Job
Old Jonathan's nemesis, Woman 1 is the Leader of the Pack. She is slender and has delicate features, and she might even be attractive, were it not for the scorn (at best) and hatred (at worst) she radiates towards nearly everyone and everything. She has an absolute and unshakable belief in the rightness of all her opinions and actions. In her own mind, she is an end-product rather than a work-in-progress, and this renders her both free from anxiety, but also incapable of the kind of self-knowledge that comes from introspection. And yet, in the world of the blind these qualities, together with her complete lack of humour or irony, make her the perfect Leader.
This is a key role, and the person playing it will need to have great timing, and be able to turn on a dime between conveying the comically absurd, and conveying a sense of real menace.
