About the Job

Rachel is a liberal and social suburban mother who is very in touch with her Jewish and Israeli roots. Family and community are amongst some of of the things that she holds dear. She is kind to her neighbors and loving of people in her live however they comes. But Rachel comes from a family of Holocaust survivors and has various cousins and family members living in Israel and so she values her family's and her Jewish community's safety first. She is like many stereotypical Jewish mothers, ever so slightly neurotic, for she is the glue to an impossible web of relationships. Sometimes, this leaves her to be less considerate and accommodating of her children's individual needs and beliefs. Her fears about the world sometimes drives how she extends community and acts in online spaces. She feels in reaction to the act of vandalism against her lawn sign that she must take a stand to protect her family and other Jews around the world, and so she alerts what has happened to her community of online "friends." The algorithmic feedback only entrenches the beliefs in her world view without seeing the potential harm of her online actions could cause.
