Investigator Strickland - Round 2

About the Job

Remus J. Strickland was the real Chief Investigator for the Johns Committee known for interrogating subjects for long hours in his private motel room with complete disregard for their civil rights. Think of a local Florida McCarthy. He spent many years serving as a police officer in Tallahassee and climbed the ranks busting illegal gambling and moonshine operations. He even was tried for perjury but ultimately acquitted. His views were no doubt extreme but he believed he was fighting the good fight even if he had to bend some rules. The ends most definitely justified the means in his view. As Charley Johns, Chairman of the Committee said, “If we saved one boy from being made homosexual, it was justified.'"
