About the Job
The character portrayed is a White man in his late 40s–early 50s. Gabriel is a former military veteran who made a full recovery from PTSD with the help of an unexpected friend—a foster dog. Inspired by his own healing journey, Gabe started a dog training program specifically designed to support other veterans struggling with PTSD. He shares a special bond with Joseph, a fellow vet whose brother, David Smith, AKA 'Lonely,' is currently incarcerated. With Joseph’s connection and the encouragement of Gabe’s wife, Amalia, the program expanded to bring shelter dogs into the prison system—dogs that were scheduled to be euthanized, and inmates serving life sentences. The program changed countless lives. It gave inmates a renewed sense of purpose and, for many, a pathway to parole. The dogs they trained were adopted into loving homes, offering both man and animal a second chance.
