Alonso is, by modern standards, far too young to be involved in this expedition. Barely seventeen, his introduction to the world of colonial soldiering has extended for months and hundreds of miles beyond what Francisco imagined when he brought him along. As such, the actor for Alonso needs a younger face without a beard, though there must be some plausible resemblance to the actor for Francisco. Despite his age and the enormity of the situation, Alonso is enthusiastic above all else to prove himself as a man and a knight. He carries an energy which might be mistaken by an outsider for nervousness, but more so aligns with zealotry for this goal – tempered by the inexperience and arrogance of youth.
