Man; 20 to 35 years old; LEO is a warm, funny, and independent young man with Down syndrome who is determined to have a say in the direction of his own life. Over the course of Interdependence, Leo navigates the complicated balance between accepting support and asserting his autonomy, ultimately finding greater confidence in advocating for what he wants and needs. Leo is the emotional heart of the film, with a character arc that highlights his humor, vulnerability, resilience, and desire to be seen as a whole person rather than defined by his disability. Leo will be authentically cast with an actor with Down syndrome. Only performers with Down syndrome will be considered for this role. LEAD
