Elena
About the Job
ELENA — LEAD (no audio, on camera only) Profile: Female, 35–45. All ethnicities strongly encouraged. Character Notes: The emotional center of the campaign. A nurse practitioner, wife, and mother. She is the steady, dependable "load-bearing wall" of this family. Elena is deeply educated, evidence-based, and convinced by data and science. She is highly proactive about wellness, actively seeking out science-backed supplements that provide both physical and mental resilience. She never complains, never asks for help, and never claims to be struggling. The audience must feel the daily mental and physical load that Elena refuses to name—it has to leak out of her, despite her composure. She is entirely relatable as a woman holding it all together, who is beginning to realize she needs to take care of herself just as well as she takes care of everyone else. Casting Direction (What NOT to bring): Any actor who plays tired or defeated is wrong for this. No sighing. No martyrdom. No wistful glances out of windows. Elena's line is "I'm fine." Our job is to know the weight she's carrying. The performance lives entirely in restraint: what she swallows, her active focus, and the half-second before she smiles at her family. Naturally attractive but not "commercial pretty." Hair practical and pulled back. Minimal to no makeup. Intelligence and credibility must be instantly visible.
