About the Job
Zay is a seemingly ordinary man carrying an extraordinary internal conflict. Quiet, observant, masculine, guarded, and composed, he appears dependable, but beneath the surface he is lonely, volatile, shame-driven, obsessive, and emotionally starved. After his mother left and his father remained emotionally unavailable, Zay learned to suppress need and build his identity around control. Lyra awakens his longing for dependence, vulnerability, possession, emotional exposure, and a freedom that feels both intoxicating and terrifying. He sees this version of himself as both his greatest high and deepest shame. He isn't weak or passive; he's terrified by how much he wants to surrender.
