Mr. Sports - Comedy
Collegiate Athletic Conference Campaign
About the Job
"Mr. " is part of a couple, "Mrs." being his counterpart. Together they are the ultimate athletic conference fans. Not fans of a team; fans of the whole conference. Every school. Every sport. Been-here-since-the-first-game energy. They are a walking, talking, fully cited encyclopedia of one of the most dominant conferences in college sports history. Mr. finds deep joy in the small things; the garage setup, the six screens, the perfectly placed bobblehead. He is genuinely excited about life. About gameday. The Nutty Professor energy is real; enthusiastic, a little all over the place, completely lovable, but underneath all of it is a man who is deliberate, deeply knowledgeable, and always right when it counts. Physical : Broad-shouldered, someone who's settled into his body the way men do when they've been comfortable in themselves for decades. Wears a different team's hat in every scene. Voice: Warm, deliberate, and always pleased with himself. The kind of voice that takes its time because it knows the destination is worth the wait. Laughs at his own jokes… genuinely, not performatively. Subtle accent, but not too heavy, from the Carolinas. The joy has to be real. He is not performing enthusiasm; he actually feels it. Every time. The comedy lives in the gap between how excited he gets about things and how effortlessly the knowledge follows. He's the guy who sets up six TVs for a Saturday and is genuinely proud of the cord management. Must be able to laugh at himself, laugh at his own jokes, and still land a line that stops the room cold. The chuckle at the end of scenes; after the logo drops, after the last line lands… should feel like he's still amused by his own existence. Because he is. Reference Energy: James Earl Jones meets Nutty Professor warmth with the deliberate authority of someone who has never once been wrong about the conference's history. He is the fun that makes you lean in, and the knowledge that makes you stay.
