No, I'M Not (phoenix day players, background)
A character-driven black comedy exploring identity, gender, and mental health through the lens of a heteronormative relationship that has all the ingredients to work out, but simply doesn't. Think a strange blend of "Marriage Story" with "Shortcomings" that insists on a "Burn After Reading" vibe. SYNOPSIS: Robin has this magnanimous way of loving everyone, seemingly present and engaged all the time, to the adoration of those around her. The type to make three different kinds of traditional focaccia from scratch when people are coming over, and wants to serve a slice individually to each person. It usually drains her dry—until her endometriosis takes over and she can barely move. Jeremy has a great therapist who assures that he's doing deep, revelatory work—which is worth the weekly session fee to an emotional scrooge who loves to talk and pontificate without communicating much at all. Robin is the world to him, everything that he can imagine would complete him as a person. She once told him her love language was physical touch, so he lavished her. That wasn’t quite right; actually, it was words of affirmation, and so he lavished her… These days, he’s stopped lavishing entirely. And she seems to be quite happy, except for the persistent endo attacks. They are very affectionate, very much in love, and very stagnant. We ship them until the end despite seeing from the beginning that they're not meant to be. Someone does die, but we promise that's not the reason. Really. That's just usually how it happens, isn't it?
