The film follows Joanie, the awkward, beloved owner of a thriving underground gay bar in downtown New York. Known as "Mama Joanie," she's adored by her clientele, but behind the warmth, she harbors a dangerous obsession. It's dark, funny, uncomfortable, and deeply human, a character study wrapped in the hedonistic energy of underground queer nightlife. Small, sharp crew, building toward a festival run targeting Sundance, SXSW, and Tribeca.
