50/50 BALL is a gritty, character-driven drama about redemption, family, and the world of Oakland high school girls’ basketball. When former Euro-league star Alexandra “Alex” Morales is forced to return home to Oakland after her career implodes, she takes the only job she can get — head coach of her old high school’s struggling girls’ varsity team. Once a phenom who left Oakland behind, Alex now finds herself back on the same cracked courts where she grew up, coaching a talented but fractured group of young Black and Brown women navigating gentrification, family pressure, mental health struggles, and the constant fight to be seen.
