Project Notes

Jordan Wippell is an award-winning Australian filmmaker whose work blends genre experimentation with a deep interrogation of media, identity, and mortality. His films have screened internationally and garnered festival attention across Europe and North America, reflecting an ongoing fascination with how digital culture shapes personal reality. Wippell most recently co-produced Girl Internet Show: A Kati Kelli Mixtape with Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow), a feature-length documentary/experimental presentation that re-introduces the boundary-pushing work of outsider video artist Kati Kelli. The film premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, played Fantastic Fest, and is on the festival circuit through Hot Docs and other major showcases. His latest short film OBEY! — a horror-comedy about online identity and exploitation — has been selected by international genre festivals including FrightFest (London), Popcorn Frights (Florida), FilmQuest (Utah), and others, earning awards for editing and performance. Wippell’s work is defined by its hybrid formal approach and commitment to grounded, media-savvy storytelling — qualities that inform his direction of SH1FT3RS, a psychologically driven genre piece rooted in digital culture.
