About the Job

ROLE: PAUL Male, 50–65, Open Ethnicity A free-spirited drifter with late-’60s hippie roots, Paul has spent much of his life hitchhiking, wandering, chasing weather, work, and whatever the universe puts in front of him. He’s funny, charming, disarming, and a little eccentric — the kind of guy who can make strangers laugh at a roadside diner and still break your heart a scene later. Beneath Paul’s humor and easygoing philosophy is a man carrying regret, loneliness, and unresolved history. He uses wit and warmth to move through the world, but there’s real emotional depth under the surface. As the story unfolds, Paul becomes both a source of comic relief and an unexpected emotional anchor. Seeking an actor with natural charisma, strong timing, emotional subtlety, and a lived-in, authentic presence. Think road-worn, soulful, sharp, funny, human — not a caricature. Must be able to balance lightness, vulnerability, and quiet gravity. Supporting Strong dialogue role Must feel comfortable with naturalistic, character-driven indie drama Performance notes: Paul should feel like someone who once believed deeply in freedom, love, and changing the world — and never fully stopped believing, even if life wore him down a bit. Skills listed are a bonus. If you have a couple of the skills listed that is a plus.
