Set in Brooklyn, Between Prayers follows Aisha, a young Black queer woman navigating the space between the Catholic church of her upbringing and the Lukumí tradition where she begins to recognize herself. As she deepens her practice and builds a quiet love with Carmen, her family discovers her elekes and forces a confrontation she can no longer avoid. In a climactic moment Aisha refuses to choose. She declares that she has not abandoned faith. She has simply found it in more places than they can recognize.
