A relic of the previous century, he has an ambiguous folky-appalachian timbre to his scratchy voice, which sits higher in the register. A hermit who only exercises speech on the sparse occasion he has company. Rusty and life-taught, he is determined to complete what might be his last goal; despite his health, his reliance on the drink, and the horrors which plague his conscience. Must be physically fit enough for hiking and light-impact choreographed stunts. Some scenes require smoking. Was a prospector in the Gold Rush of '49
