Set inside the bland fluorescent purgatory of a suburban clubhouse, The Association chronicles the lives of an HOA board tasked with maintaining harmony, order, and property values in a pristine neighborhood. Led by Randy—a well-meaning, painfully unselfaware HOA president who believes governance is a form of spiritual leadership—the board convenes weekly to address minor complaints that quickly escalate into existential debates about fairness, accountability, and “the process.” Each episode centers around a deceptively small conflict (a flamingo, a flag, noise at exactly 9:01pm) that exposes the board members’ insecurities, ideologies, and need for control. Shot in an intimate mockumentary style with direct-to-camera confessionals, the series treats the HOA as the ultimate microcosm of modern society: rule-obsessed, conflict-averse, and deeply convinced it’s doing the right thing.
