Further insight: In March of 2024, I was leaving an audition session I held in Hollywood. I had the whole day free. My girl was at work and my friends were working. What was I to do? I checked my phone app and learned that ANATOMY OF A FALL was playing at a vintage theater off Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills. This was a treat because by then, the film was out of theaters and streaming. I wanted to see this on the big screen after it made such a buzz at the 2024 Oscars. I walked into this incredible throwback theater, purchased old time popcorn and sat down to watch this much ballyhooed film. For 2 ½ hours I was riveted to the screen. The story telling. The mystery. The court Scenes. The performances. When I left the theater I was filled with this overwhelming inspiration but no where to place it. Meaning whatever creative inspiration and energy I received from watching such an incredible piece, I had to work extra hard at bringing it to life. This meant I had to go through the whole process of setting up casting. By the time I would go through the succession of actors auditioning, whatever energy and inspiration I received the day of watching the movie is now diluted. Inspiration has shifted because now you have been inspired in other ways by the talent that stands before you. If none of them nailed your vision, you have now shifted into a different direction. Its a process inside of you that is out of your control. The closest example I can give is the legendary story of Michael Jackson driving down Ventura blvd when the strains of 'Billie Jean' popped in his head. He had to rush home to write it down or he would lose it forever. This is how delicate and fragile inspiration can be. If I had a muse sitting next to me in the theater, my energy and inspiration would have automatically and naturally gone to them. After the film we would have gone to some restaurant and created a strategy around this incredible expressiveness that I was feeling. These are the moments and tools that create Iconic box office breaking work such as 'Oppenheimer' and 'Sinners'..both existed due to the filmmakers MUSES. A muse is such a powerful possession in a creators arsenal and also for the talent. If the world can align the creator with the perfect muse and vice versa, things like Scorcese/Dicaprio – Burton/Depp – Coogler/B Jordan - Nolan/Murphy and Spike/Denzel would take flight into iconic and legendary status. This ladies and gentleman is why in addition to my expansive work, I search deeply for a singular soul to interpret my vision and writing on a different level. It sounds obsessive but the proof is in the proverbial pudding. Look at the Billion dollar path Ryan and Michael B have done in only 13 years. Most people come to LA and it takes nearly thirteen years to get a guest starring TV role. What those two men did is insane when you compare that logic. The combination name of Jordan and Coogler can without a doubt open a movie. Very few actors these days can OPEN up a movie on their name alone. The ICONIC Steven Spielberg said publicly that the era of the superstar is over as far as filmmaking. If you study the art of this business, then you know he was 100 percent right.
