Young Amelia, with her single father Fred, moves into a new apartment complex. While Fred learns how to become a father on his own, truly, Amelia begins to explore her new life, forming a special bond with an older woman named Kathy, whom she meets by chance at the pool.

In her 70s, but can be played younger. Kathy is a wise older woman who forms a unique bond with Amelia. She has a sense of humor and a warm spirit, and is masking grief over her husband's death. The actor must be able to play layered emotion and work well with child actors.
