Stephen Wright is the youngest of the four friends—an African American man in his early twenties, fresh out of college and often feeling like a fish out of water in adult life. Grounded, sincere, and deeply open-minded, Stephen is one of the kindest and most emotionally honest characters in the series. He says exactly what’s on his mind—sometimes to a fault—and often serves as the group’s quiet voice of reason. Though younger, Stephen carries an old-soul wisdom, especially when it comes to Will, whom he often grounds with perspective and truth. His emotional intelligence makes him the one everyone trusts, even when he’s unsure of himself. Stephen is the only one in the group in a long-term relationship, having been with his college sweetheart, Samiyah, for five years. Committing so young has left him with lingering questions about the life he didn’t get to explore in his twenties, creating unspoken resentment and doubt about whether he’s truly ready for forever. Professionally, Stephen is an on-again, off-again Uber driver, drifting between jobs and hobbies as he searches for purpose and direction. He constantly wrestles with the question: Should I stay in this relationship, or should I be single and figure myself out? Though uncertain, Stephen leans heavily on his chosen family for guidance, trusting that his friends genuinely want what’s best for him. Goal:To find his way—even if he keeps getting lost along the journey.
