About the Job
Physical: Lean and wiry from farm work, sun-weathered olive skin, dark hair, calloused hands. Shorter stature (5'8"-5'9"), practical and unpretentious in bearing. From Hispania, Iberian heritage with rugged, honest features. Weapon: Modified farming scythe/sickle -- the tool he used for harvest, now adapted for combat with the help of Valeria the blacksmith. Background: A small farmer from Hispania Baetica whose ancestral land was absorbed into a massive Domitii latifundium. Unable to pay the crushing taxes and rent on what was once his family's farm, he was given a brutal choice: enslavement for debt or enroll in the gladiatorial ludus. His brother was "disappeared" by Domitii enforcers when they protested the land seizure. Motivation: Win enough fights to earn freedom and buy back his family’s land. He has a wife and children depending on him. Arc: Begins as a reluctant fighter doing this purely for survival, but increasingly finds himself drawn to the violence and glory of the arena. Must grapple with whether he can return to being a simple farmer or if he's become someone else entirely.
