About the Job
Physical: North African/Nubian features, dark skin, natural hair styled distinctively (braids, wraps). Strong, athletic build from handling large animals and dangerous beasts. Moves with confidence and grace. Possibly has scars from animal encounters. Striking and proud in bearing. Background: Punic-Numidian heritage -- descended from Carthaginian horse traders/nobility who fled after the Third Punic War (146 BCE). Her family maintained their traditions in exile. Her great-grandmother was Carthaginian nobility who was enslaved, raped, and brutalized by a Domitii ancestor when Carthage fell. The family has passed down this story for generations. Livia was born into slavery in Rome (second or third generation), worked with animals from childhood, eventually earned freedom through her invaluable skills with horses and exotic beasts (lions, bears, elephants for the venationes). She speaks multiple languages (Punic, Latin, Numidian Berber). Motivation: Revenge against the Domitii family that destroyed her ancestors and still benefits from that wealth. Recover a stolen family heirloom and make them pay in blood. Arc: Grapples with whether helping Aurelius (a Roman prince) is betraying her people or using him as a tool. Questions if revenge will heal her or just make her emptier.
