About the Job
Jeff is Emily’s aging, often drunk father, a demanding patriarch who expects big, showy gestures from his children—especially Emily. He calls her to insist on a lavish 70th birthday party and happily compares Mark unfavorably to Jamie once he thinks Jamie is rich. Jeff cares a lot about face and being seen as “well taken care of” by his daughter, happily praising whichever man seems to bring more money and status. When the villa scam is exposed and he realizes Jamie has lied, he’s quick to feel duped and lash out, adding to the pressure on Emily and Adam.
