The Taming

About the Job

Joe Carver, known among Drago’s biker gang as Slick, is the kind of man who mistakes charm for power and intimidation for respect. In his late thirties, with slicked back hair, a perpetual smirk, and a leather jacket he never takes off, Joe sees himself as the irresistible bad boy every woman secretly wants. In truth, his reputation in town is far from flattering he’s the guy women warn each other about. A shameless womanizer, Joe thrives on attention and control. He has a way of talking that’s just smooth enough to make people lower their guard before realizing they should have walked away sooner. Underneath his easy grin and swagger lies a mean streak a belief that “no” is just a challenge rather than a boundary. When Sarah, the new bartender in town, rejects his advances and keeps her distance, Joe’s ego takes the hit like an insult he can’t forgive. The more she avoids him, the more obsessed and aggressive he becomes, convinced she’s just “playing hard to get.” Joe doesn’t ride with Drago’s gang out of loyalty or brotherhood. He rides because power follows Drago, and Joe feeds on that power like a parasite. Being part of the gang gives him status, intimidation, and access, the tools he uses to chase women and throw his weight around. He’s not the smartest or the toughest in the crew, but he’s cunning in his own way, always sniffing out who he can manipulate to get what he wants. Beneath the bravado, Joe is insecure a man terrified of being insignificant. Every conquest, every flex of dominance, is his way of proving to himself that he still matters. But that same hunger for validation is also what makes him reckless, dangerous, and ultimately, his own worst enemy.
