A lifelong farmer and a familiar face in the dusty outskirts of town. In his late fifties, with sun creased skin and calloused hands, he’s the kind of man everyone knows by sight the quiet type who keeps to his land, his work, and his morning coffee at the diner. Years ago, he remembered Donovan as a polite, quiet boy who used to help out with odd jobs around the farms before disappearing without a trace. When Hank sees him again, grown and hardened by life, he recognizes him immediately the same eyes, just older, heavier. Out of habit and genuine kindness, Hank greets him with a smile and a simple, “Well, I’ll be damned Donovan, that you?” But when Donovan walks past without a word, Hank’s smile fades into quiet confusion. He doesn’t take it personally he just senses that the kid’s been through something bad, something that’s changed him for good. Hank Dobbins isn’t a man of drama or judgment.
