He drills Blu mercilessly on and off the court, determined to armor his son against the world. Beneath his toxic masculinity lies his own unhealed wounds of displacement, addiction, and failure. He’s a figure that lacks the ability to express his love in the traditional sense but he’s able to shift between menacing and showcasing moments of haunting vulnerability.
