About the Job
While many of this party's attendees feel like outsiders, Jessica is perhaps the most isolated; she may be able to have pleasant conversations with Ashley and receive some unwanted competitive flirting from Luke, but it's really only Gary who actually wants her to be there. To her husband's delight but unbeknownst to the rest of his family, this former party girl has recently hit rock bottom as an alcoholic, and after losing her job as a personal trainer, she's gotten sober and become a born-again Christian tradwife. She's hanging on by a thread to such a degree that she calls her sponsor for a pep talk shortly after arrival, yet she's determined to grim up and stand by her man as he deals with his insolent children and insufferable sister-in-law.
