About the Job
The Girl is the lead character. At age 11, to all outward appearances she is living a happy, normal life. She's socially and intellectually engaged at school. At home she's kind and attentive towards her little brother, and to her parents she seems like the perfect child. But sometimes, in private and unguarded moments, she is overcome with a sadness, a sense of desolation, she can't explain. She tries to ignore or dismiss these episodes, but they wont go away. Because she doesn't understand where these feelings come from, she hides them from others. And because she hides them, increasingly they open up a gulf between her and the rest of the world.
Meanwhile, the doll hidden in her cupboard is starting to make its presence felt.
