About the Job
Maurice is a conflicted young man caught in the grip of a system that failed to protect him. After years of witnessing disturbing behavior, he ultimately becomes the target of a predatory priest, but instead of remaining silent, he defends himself and kills his abuser. Though his actions were in self-defense, Maurice is torn between the guilt of taking a life and the clarity that it was, in essence, an act of self-defense. Intelligent yet deeply innocent, he embodies both righteous rebellion and the tragedy of a youth forced to carry the weight of violence and moral consequence.
