Meet Our Team: Ryan Hicks, Enterprise Sales and Client Relations Manager
Welcome to our recurring column, Meet Our Team, where we will spotlight some of the integral members of the Casting Networks team who are dedicated to keeping our platform running smoothly and efficiently for our customers and clients. For our latest installment, we speak with Ryan Hicks, Enterprise Sales and Client Relations Manager for Casting Networks.
What is your role at Casting Networks?
I’m the Enterprise Sales and Client Relations Manager for Casting Networks in Australia and New Zealand.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Getting to tackle interesting and challenging problems with a great team is super rewarding. Building lasting relationships and being a part of moving the industry forward. The industry is full of very nice people, and the Casting Networks team rocks!
What are you most excited about working on this year?
I’m excited to move into a new office space in Chippendale, and have our team all together! I’m excited about a couple of big feature releases coming very soon – job form functionality, live audition capture, open call links, etc. I’m also excited to be working more closely with New Zealand clients and expanding our presence here in Australia and internationally.
What are some interesting areas you get to focus on at Casting Networks that you didn’t in previous roles?
In my almost six years at the company I’ve been lucky to work across departments, across continents and with people and teams all over the world. Getting to learn different things along the way and interact with some amazing people inside and outside of the company has been a great opportunity for me.
What drove you to pursue a career in Client Relations?
When my NBA career didn’t pan out, I got a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Wollongong Uni and started pursuing a career in the business world. I gravitated towards marketing, business development and growth, and I love interacting and talking with people. Working with clients closely is something that I get a lot of enjoyment out of and has become a major part of my role.
Tell us about a mentor or person who inspired you to get to where you are today.
Someone who has been very influential on me is Danny Rosenberg. I worked with Danny and reported to him in LA for a few years and he was very inspirational and influential to me. The way he carries himself, interacts with people, goes the extra mile and treats everyone with respect, empathy and care. He’s just a great human, and I am so stoked that he’s back working at Talent Systems, Casting Networks’ parent company. He’s a trusted friend and mentor that continues to teach me a lot.
